Tucked into a little corner of Denver’s Rino neighborhood is Bigsby’s Folly. My Lyft driver even got lost taking me. But let me tell you, I’d get lost any day if it meant I’d end up here. I showed up right after the place opened which meant I was the first and only patron in the joint. As I was snapping pictures of the massive, beautiful, chandelier set against the backdrop of this urban winery’s logo (the owners dog, Bigsby) I was greeted by a man at the bar who I later found out was the one of the owners, Chad. Chad used to be a rocket scientist, guys. And now he and his wife, Marla, are living out their dream of bringing fine wines to our city. Aren’t we lucky?
The decor in this place kills me. Vintage velvet and leather chairs, rustic trunks used as tables, industrial stools and barrels all combined to make this open tasting room a perfect spot to lounge about with your gals while sipping on one of their wine flights (you know I had the rosé one) or to have a little date night charcuterie action. Meats and cheeses, and cheeses and meats, please. I consider one of my skills sitting on patios. And they have a puppy friendly patio. Which means I get to drink wine on a patio with puppies… Sold. They even have a basket of toys and treats for your canine children. Along with a private tasting room for events and a loyalty club, called the Adventurers Club, which gives you points for drinking all the wines. And if you really enjoy this place you can join a wine club which offers a six-bottle and twelve-bottle wine plan.
Bigsby’s has a food menu that ranges from boards and shared plates to doughnut sticks and also offers cocktails, cider and craft beer for those crazies who aren’t into the vino. Bigsby’s wants to bring the good stuff to us with their “artisanal meets accessible” mantra. Go check out their website bigsbysfolly.com to sign up for their mailing list or their social @bigsbysfolly for events. And take your doggies, on September 19th, to Yappy Hour. An event where 10% of sales our donated to the Morris Animal Foundation. They’re having wine specials for the people and dog wine! Stop. See you there.
